Christmas at the Dub House

Man, sometimes life just feels like an embarrassment of riches. Mike had his last day at King Soopers on Christmas Eve and we had an amazing Christmas with our families.  Who needs presents when you've got a life like this? :)  Merry Christmas everyone!!

Finn's Christmas Eve picture - a tree with LOTS of presents and the numbers 2 and 4 "so Santa doesn't forget how old we are" :)

Leaving milk and cookies for Santa - and a bowl of carrots for the reindeer!

After all that hard work of opening presents in the morning, Will butters waffles for everyone.
And it's not Christmas until you eat all the candy off the gingerbread house.

The top 5 of 2011

Merry Christmas Eve!  We have a fun day in store for us tomorrow, but it's just incredible to look back at all the wonderful things we have done this year.  Here is our top five things of 2011:

#5 My job continues to be so, so good.  Challenging, rewarding, flexible, and so much fun.  I feel really lucky that I landed someplace so much fun.

#4 - So many adventures, it's hard to list them all.  We were lucky to get so much pool and lake time this year with some great friends.  We spent a lot of time together running and focusing more on getting fit, which included Mike being a Wheaties FUEL ambassador.

#3 -An amazing mid-year vacation with the kiddos to the outer banks of North Carolina with our great friends the Riley's.

#2 - Mike and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary by taking a great weekend trip to Glenwood Springs.  Still crazy about each other after all this time :)

#1 - And our top moment of 2011?  Mike finding a new job in Accounting!  After 20 years at King Soopers and going back to school full time while working AND being with the boys all day two days a week, Mike found the perfect job for him in his field!  He starts at MWH Global on January 4th, and we couldn't be more excited for him and us.

There you have it!  Quite a year, huh!?

Christmas is coming!

This has been an exceptionally fun holiday season so far.  Finn understands the holiday and has been doing a countdown to Christmas since the middle of November.  He asked us to put up the tree about 10 minutes after we were done eating Thanksgiving dinner :)  I can't wait to see these munchkins on Christmas morning!

Visiting "Santa's House." Will showed Santa his cars, but didn't have much to say.  Finn told Santa that he wanted a ladybug pillow pet, a new bike, and a helmet. Santa seemed very impressed that Finn was concerned about bike safety :)

Finn was more than happy to try on the Christmas hat
Will.....not so much
Time to decorate the tree.  SOMEONE is pretty excited about that!

Will is 2!

It has been an incredible couple of years with this little man.  We are loving watching him get bigger and develop such a funny and strong willed personality.  He and Finn couldn't be more different and we love it!

Will loved blowing out his candles!  They kept relighting these and letting him blow them out over and over.

We had a little party with all of our best buds, and Will was spoiled with love from everyone.  Lots of Thomas the Train and Cars gear - his favorite things!
Our sweet, amazing, messy boy.  Happy birthday little man!!

The Ghost and the Elvis

For the first time, Finn decided what he wanted to be for Halloween, insisting on a ghost costume weeks ahead of time.  Despite initially trying to change his mind to something that I thought would be more fun, I got on board with the idea.  For the first time EVER, I attempted to make the costume...let's just say I won't likely be doing that anytime soon, but it was good enough :)

Our tradition has become the grandparents all coming over, having a delicious dinner of chili dogs, and heading out for trick-or-treating the second the sun goes down.  This year was awesome, with Will running behind Finn and trying to keep up as they filled up their treat buckets.  It was so fun trailing behind them and watching these boys grow up at the speed of light.

10 Years!

On September 29, Mike and I celebrated 10 amazing years of marriage. It's been a pretty amazing time together - and we have a lot to show for it.

We took a week off in October and just spent a lot of time together. After several romantic days of organizing and cleaning the garage and basement, we did a quick getaway (just the two of us!) to Glenwood Springs. One of the highlights was Hanging Lake, an amazing hike near Glenwood. We also enjoyed the Adventure Park and the hot springs. Somehow, even after 12 years together, we just don't get sick of being together and can always find endless things to talk about. It's pretty awesome to still be madly in love :)

You know, just chillin' on a log in the middle of a lake.

6 Races

This year, between Mike and I, we've done a total of 6 races.

The first one was the Bolder Boulder on May 30, one of the largest 10K races in the country.
Next up was the Longmont Stampede on June 11 with Gammy and Papa, one of the few local races you can have a stroller. After a lot of consideration, I decided to push the boys in the 10K instead of the 5K. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the wrong choice. After only 2 miles, Will became VERY irritated with the stroller, and demanded to be let free. We had to turn around, and just waited for Mike at the finish line.
The next was a biggie - Mike's first half marathon, the Slacker Half on June 25! He rocked out 13.1 miles, running from Loveland to Georgetown. The elevation begins at 10,630 and ends at 8,400...lots of downhill made for very unhappy knees :) However, he did an amazing job!

The next race was on August 21, the Warrior Dash! This 5K race included 13 obstacles which included sloshing through mud, jumping over fire, scrambling over obstacles, etc. Here is our before picture:

And after:

Serious Warriors!

On September 25, Mike did the 10K race Fans on the Field, which runs through Coors Field, Invesco Stadium, and the Pepsi Center. You'll notice he's decked out in Wheaties gear - this is because he is an official Wheaties FUEL ambassador! Out of thousands of applications, he was chosen to represent the brand with 9 other Colorado athletes. What a badass :)

Speaking of badass, the next race he did was his SECOND half marathon, the Rock 'n Roll half in Denver on October 9. He beat his previous time by 6 minutes, but felt that it was a much better race overall. We were so happy to be there to cheer him on!

Here he comes!
A quick kiss on the sidelines!

No more races scheduled right now, but Mike is considering a full marathon next spring, and we'd like to do a triathlon together next summer. We would also love to do another adventure race like the Warrior Dash. Anyone want to join us!?

Fun at the Morris Lake (x2!)

This summer we got to go to the lake with the Morris family two times. We always have so much fun with Heather, Jake, and their super sweet girls.

Finn and Taylor are in the same pre-K class together. Such sweet buddies.

A smooch on the boat

As we were speeding along in the boat, Finn and Taylor were chanting some strange song, that went something like, "No, no! We won't go!" Random!

Finn and Reagan caught frogs by the bucketful.

Will and gorgeous girl Chayce

The best picture I managed to take of all the kids together. Wiggly worms!
