Fun holiday weekend

It was so nice to have a long weekend to spend lots of time with my favorite boys. We had Karli & Sean and Lisa & Philip over for a BBQ and enjoyed the gorgeous weather.

Finn and Ella did some playing

Finn is definitely favoring his thumb - although he likes his pacifier, he will spit it out of his mouth in order to put his thumb in. He gets really into it, and it's quite entertaining to watch.

Finn is starting to be able to sit up much better, his balance is improving alot.

It is so funny how much our little guy entertains us - he pretty much does the same 10 things, but we can just stare at him for hours.

3 months old!

Today, Finn is 3 months old! He is an incredible little boy, such an intense joy in our lives. He continues to be a great sleeper - always asleep by 9, and usually wakes up one time around 3. Mike and I have really enjoyed the smiles he continually has for us, and we are anxiously awaiting the first giggle.

He has alot of strength in his legs (but absolutely no balance) and can hold his weight on his legs if we hold his hands. He has a little more skill in balancing when he is sitting, but still needs at least one of our hands on him.

We are still working on tummy time, but he still doesn't have much interest in raising his head
Although he's not picking things up yet, if we put something in his hand, the first place it goes is into his mouth.
I think this face is probably saying "oh mom, put the camera away!"

A fist snack

On Monday night, Finn had an evening snack of his very own hand, complete with wonderful lip smacking. This went on for about 10 minutes, but here is a minute of it...

And apparently it really tuckered him out, because here he is when he finally stopped...(I love the twitching hand and slitted eyes)

And here he is the next morning, just being cute!

He's a leg man

Finn loves to lay on his back and bring his legs straight up in the air and wiggle around. Too cute!

We are finding that his lower body is quite strong, but he is lagging on the neck control and arm strength. Definitely our fault because we've been lax on the "tummy time". (When you have a baby who throws up alot, you try to avoid putting them on their stomach!) He's starting to tolerate better these days, but keeps falling asleep now.

When Finn's grandpa visited, Hunter got loads of attention. Ever since he left, Hunter has realized how much we are ignoring him, and he doesn't like it one bit. He gets back at the baby by giving him wet willies.

Here is my attempt at my mothers day self portrait. I had a wonderful day - Finn got me flowers and a card, very thoughtful of him.

Still using the Bumbo chair to learn to sit.

And some cute pictures....

And here's a note and a question to all the Finn admirers out there. First off, I have had many complaints that I have not been keeping up on the blog as much lately - well unfortunately he is pretty sleepy by the time I am home from work..and I'm pretty sure no one wants to see nonstop pictures of Finn sleeping. So I just want to let you know, it's not laziness - it's lack of material! Also, MAYBE if I got some more comments on the blog, I would be more motivated to post more often :)

Also, a quick question - I want to create a video montage of all the Finn footage I have - does anyone know any good (super cheap or free) software that I could use to edit a bunch of different movie files? If so, please post a comment to let me know.

Showing his love

Finn loves his mom and dad so much that
he spits up in a heart shape for us!
(thank goodness for leather furniture)

Although I missed Finn during my first week back to work, it was much much better than I imagined. By the time I get home, he's pretty sleepy and I don't get much of an opportunity to take photos...so I made up for it this weekend!

Updated stats: We had his checkup on Saturday and he is doing great! He is now 11 pounds 11 ounces, so he's gained exactly 5 pounds since he was born. He is now 22 inches, up 3 from birth. He is pretty much in the middle as far as the percentiles, so he is right on track for his age. He started his vaccinations and got 3 shots - I think it may have been harder on Mike and I than it was on him, but he sure got a lung workout!

Enjoying a lazy Sunday morning

Biiiiig yawn...
