Back to reality...

Tomorrow is my first day back to work after 9 wonderful weeks off. I honestly cannot believe how fast the time has gone by, and I can say that I have truly enjoyed every minute of it. Thank goodness I love my job or I don't know how I would be able to go back. Finn and I had a fun last week together.
We visited his buddy Carl on Tuesday and we put them in the baby carriers and took a nice walk around Yaga's neighborhood. We are really enjoying the beautiful weather!
We dropped by grandma Cathie's office

Mike and I played basketball outside our house on Friday and enjoyed the sunset

Grandpa visits!

Finn's grandpa visited us from Nashville for a long weekend. They had a great time bonding and Finn spent alot of time napping in his arms.
Grandpa got to experience how much of a little furnace he is when he goes to sleep.
Playing airplane
Not sure who was copying who Some serious eye contact
Playing and bonding
Instant buddies

2 months old

It's hard to believe that our little guy is already 2 months old. We have been having so much fun with him - his personality is beginning to emerge and he is so much more aware of his world.

He is sleeping every night in his crib, only waking up a couple of times during the night to eat. He is on a loose schedule, so we know pretty much what to expect every day. Our favorite time of the day is when we lay him down and he looks around at us and talks to us in his little language. The smiles are becoming more frequent and it's awesome to feel like he is beginning to recognize us.

The elusive smile

I have been trying diligently to catch his smile on camera...haven't gotten a great one so far, but here are some of the attempts...

In other news, he is becoming more aware of his hands....
And learning how to sit, with the help of his trusty Bumbo

A baby afternoon

One of the gals from the childbirth class invited all the ladies and their kiddos over to her house for the afternoon. Unfortunately 3 of the moms couldn't go, but 6 of us were able to get together. It was a wonderful day with lots of story sharing and laughs.

In the picture above, there is Dillan, Carl, Ella, Finn, Gia, and Anderson.

A crib and sleep breakthrough!

Well despite our fears that Finn was destined to never sleep anywhere except our arms, he has slept the last 3 nights in a row in his crib! Yea! Thursday night he woke up 5 times, but I didn't care because he was IN HIS CRIB. Last night, he actually slept for nearly 5 hours, which was by far the longest stretch he's ever gone. He is also starting to take naps in his swing, which is SO nice because it frees me up to actually be productive for a couple of hours a day. I have to say that I am missing my snuggle time with him, though - I have surprised myself in many ways since Finn was born. I thought I'd be one of those hard-core "let 'em cry it out" kind of moms who breathe a huge sigh of relief when the baby is down for the night. So far, I have to stop myself from checking on him every 15 minutes to make sure he's breathing. Just a testament that you can never know what kind of parent you'll be until you are one!

Finn continues to be much more alert and loves to be in a bright room and stare at everything

He's still not quite sure whose hands those are

This is the look he has just before he slips into a milk coma

We have really been enjoying the last couple days of nice
weather and have been trying to get outside and take walks

Finn and Hunter continue to get to know each other

Here is a good look at the bald spot that has developed on his head - I thought it was a little early for male pattern baldness, and thankfully it's growing back already :)

Fun easter weekend

We had a very fun and busy Easter weekend. On Saturday we went to visit a couple from our childbirth class, Yaga and Dirk. Their son Carl is a sweet quiet boy, and I think he and Finn will be great buddies!

Finn had just woken up from a nap, but was still very excited to meet Carl

Sunday we spent the day with Grandma Kathy and Aunt Jana, and Finn got his first easter basket. The bunny was very good to him - and to us too! Despite now having a kiddo of our own, the bunny can't help but to bring us goodies too :)

After all that weekend excitement, he has been sleeping almost all day today...We'll see if we get any sleep tonight!

Great week

Tristina and Auntie J

Leilani and Zhanna

Annie and Tepi

We have had a fun week, lots of playing and visits from friends. We are so lucky to have so many wonderful friends in our lives who have made us feel special with their phone calls and visits over the past 6 weeks. Finn has so many "aunts" in his life, he'll never have a shortage of advice from females.

Finn is growing very quickly, already over 10 pounds. Not a big surprise though since all he seems to be doing the past few days is eating. The only struggle we are having is that he doesn't want to be put down to sleep - when we put him in his swing or crib, he'll sleep for about 5-10 minutes and then be wide awake - but if someone is holding him, he'll sleep for hours! This is not a pattern I want to fall into! However, everyone says you can't spoil an infant so I'm crossing my fingers that we're not digging a hole for ourselves!
Last week I posted about his developing tear ducts - well, if you look close at this pic you can see his first actual tear running down his face. He wanted to eat and I wanted to change him, and this he wasn't too happy about this conflict of interests. Of course he delayed his eating even more when I had to run downstairs with him to grab the camera to catch the tear.
